At 75 and 80, Mike Molony and Marion Johnson will be taking on their first Ealing Half Marathon to raise vital funds for our hospice, and every donation will help motivate them towards the finish line.

This challenge is deeply personal for Mike. We cared for his wife, Catherine, before she sadly died from pancreatic cancer in 2017. Now, he wants to give something back in gratitude for the amazing care we provided to Catherine and so many people in Ealing.

Mike said: “I’ll be forever grateful for the compassion and kindness the staff at Meadow House Hospice showed to Catherine in what was a very difficult time in our lives.

“Taking on this challenge is my way of saying thank you and helping the hospice give the same care to more families when they need it most.

“The Ealing Half Marathon passes near my house every year, and I have always loved watching everyone go by. After volunteering to help set up last year, I was offered a place in this year’s event, and I decided it was an opportunity I simply couldn’t miss.

“My friend Marion loves dancing and keeps incredibly active, so together we’re determined to make it all the way to the finish line.

“I had two hip replacements, so running isn’t an option. Instead, I have been training hard with regular gym sessions and uphill walks, and we hope to complete the course in around three and a half hours.

“Marion is not a quitter, so she will make sure we cross that finish line together.”
