Chelsea’s half marathon for Meadow House
August 27, 2024
When Chelsea Lehane woke up early a few weeks ago, she decided it would be a good day to walk a half marathon to raise money for our hospice.
She said: “My grandad, Geoff, was cared for at Meadow House, before he sadly passed away in December last year. We asked for donations, rather than flowers at his funeral, to say thank you for everything the staff did for him and for the support they gave our family. It was on my mind to do something else to fundraise for the hospice, and the half marathon seemed like an obvious choice.”
“My family told me it would be really difficult and I needed to train, but I decided to go for it. I live in Hanwell so I walked to Ealing common, did lots of laps, then carried on walking to make up the distance of just over 13 miles.
“I will admit, it was a bit painful afterwards, but I completed my challenge and that’s what matters.
She raised £500 which she came to drop off with her nan, Ann Brown.
