Meadow House hospice is a NHS run unit and is part of the provider services within Ealing PCT NHS. Meadow House hospice needs to raise funds every year through to be able to offer its wide range of comforts and extra services for the patients and to support several key posts.
In total government funding costs for the special palliative and end of life care services amounts to approximately £3 million each year (made up by each PCT Hounslow and Ealing) and excluding the costs of services such as finance, human resources, ICT support and shared services for estates etc), £100k is required each year to be raised through voluntary contributions, legacies, hospice events, fundraising and other creative activities to support the service and environment and some staff salaries.
It is the support of the local community that enables Meadow House Hospice to continue providing the highest standards of care to patients, families and carers. Unlike some other hospices, our service is funded by the NHS. Nevertheless, there is always more work we wish to do which cannot always be covered by our statutory budget. We are extremely fortunate that local businesses, charities and individuals help us to raise money, or make donations to us. This money is managed in a charitable trust fund and is used for many different purposes to improve the environment for patients, to contribute to training more specialists in the field and to support some non-NHS posts. Our work would be very different without this additional revenue for which we continually owe a huge debt of gratitude to our generous and committed supporters.
Community Groups/Individuals
Last year alone, fundraising within our community raised an amazing £100k and every year the amount of people wanting to support our works continues to grow. If you are a member of any local group who would like more information on supporting the work of the hospice, be it through financial donations, or man power/ expertise please contact us and we can give you lots of advice on getting involved no matter how large or small the ‘donation’. |
