We are delighted to report that Marks and Spencer, Chiswick presented us with a cheque for £3,500 at Meadow House in October. The team said they were ’humbled’ by the experience of visiting the hospice and the wonderful work the team did. They met with patients in the Day Hospice and said that they could see and feel that ‘we run an efficient service with care and warmth’.
Sainsbury’s West Ealing have organised a sponsored slim and walk in addition to their monthly weekend collections, we are delighted to have been nominated their Charity of the Year and look forward to ‘fun’ organising more events! There will be a bumper fundraising day in May 2010 to complete this fantastic year of support from Sainsburys.
Meadow House Day in September saw a number of communities organising fundraising events and we raised a total of £15,000. These included a sponsored walk, charity football match, an Irish dance, tea party, bring and buy sale, 50th wedding celebration, wellbeing and pamper day, amateur dramatics production, collection in Ealing Broadway Centre, 2 church collections, beauty day, pub quiz and a car wash day. PLEASE DOWNLOAD THE FUNDRAISING PACK IF YOU WANT TO HELP US THIS YEAR ON MEADOPW HOUSE DAY.
We have now reached our target of £200,000 to supplement the Department of Health funding and hope to start the new building in May 2010! Still more to raise as costs of the new build have escalated as one would expect and we are £100k short!
A very big ‘Thank You’ to everyone who has supported us, it has been wonderful meeting you all and working with you, we couldn’t do it without you!
Through the Fundraising Programme we have been able to promote and inform the public of the changes within the service which are vital for the patients and their families to be aware of. Many more people appreciate our care at home for End of Life patients and understand that our service covers a wider remit other than cancer.
Every year £100k is raised through donations given in thanks for the clinical care provided.
